Information for pilots and users of Reno-Stead Airport.

The Latest on PRS, etc.

There will be a great deal of flight activity at Stead over the next 10 days.  I have attached information regarding 2014 Pylon Racing Seminar activities and schedules.

In addition to PRS, we will be hosting the Collings Foundation “Wings of Freedom” tour from noon on Wednesday until noon on Friday.  Flight activity will include B-17, B-24, B-25 and P-51 flights over the three day event.  The aircraft will be located at center ramp east of the RARA grandstands.

There will be a jet “formation” training class conducting operations at Stead Saturday and Sunday.  There will probably be two flights of four aircraft operating out of Stead.  Part of the training will include “overhead approach and break to land”, which are non-standard patterns.  I will be working with instructors to integrate their operations with our regular GA flight operations.

Beginning Monday, we will have a large contingent of “Sport class” aircraft conducting similar formation training, with the same potential impacts on Stead operations.

As you can see form the schedules, PRS will begin flight operations Wednesday, and continue through Saturday.

This level of flight activity is unusual for Stead, so everyone will have to be prepared for non-standard operations.

Please contact my office at 328-6570 if you have questions.

Thanks,
