Thought you all might like a visual reminder of what the Runway 8 threshold looks like, along with the centerline. They have been invisible for quite some time, now.
I do believe we are getting close to day, VFR standards for Runway 8/26.
The painters have knocked off until after races. There are thresholds, numbers, and a centerline. No edgelines yet, but not needed for our Air Race use. We will finish painting after Air Races.
There is still some shoulder/safety area surface smoothing to do, but they are working that thru next week.
We even have unlit signs (remember, day-only runway we are shooting for) at the runway entries to mark the edge of the safety area, but one might not be quite right-side-up yet.
The pavement surface is pretty smooth, as far as asphalt runways go. Not all the sawcuts are filled with rubber crackfill yet, but that will be ok for Air Races.
HEADs UP #1 – We may have to close TWY A between TWY B and RWY 32 threshold for some work on a sign Monday/Tuesday next week. If we do, watch for NOTAM and you should be able to taxi to 32 via B to RWY 8/26 to RWY 32.
HEADs UP #2 – I am opening TWY C sometime Monday morning for aircraft movements and Air Race parking. There is one lighting hole on the NW corner of the runway intersection that needs finishing.
All is not perfection, but I will be applying runway inspection standards next week so I can tell you exactly what restrictions I will have to maintain for use of RWY 8/26 during Air Races.
Have a nice weekend!
