I have some good news to share about growing our airport.
Today are releasing a public request for proposals to see if businesses are interested in building new aviation facilities at RTS. The land area we are offering for interested parties is at the west end of TWY A.
As you noticed, our area is growing, and we have had increasing questions about space to add hangars and possible new businesses. We are testing the water on whether there is appetite for additional FBO services, along with adding aircraft storage hangars. That said, respondents may propose any aeronautical facility and/or business.
There are about 30 acres of land that we are focusing on. Some, as you can see, lends itself to hangar row development. While some is more open and could include a larger facility.
Our current, major aeronautical business leases are not impacted by this RFP. They may choose to participate if they see an opportunity, but their leases are not impacted and will be handled per our existing guidelines. Obviously, there is a potential down the road for some operational adjustments as our aviation family grows and we see what kinds of new partners we may have.
If anyone is interested in learning more about this RFP, or you think you know someone who is interested, we post all solicitation opportunities issued from the RTAA via a web-based bidding system. Instructions for the Nevada Government eMarketplace (NGEM) are as follows: Copies of the bid, specifications, and bid forms may be obtained by downloading the documents and addendums directly from the NGEM website at: https://nevada.ionwave.net/Login.aspx. Each bidder must first register in the NGEM Supplier System to enable the download of these solicitation documents as well as receive future Bid/RFP/RFQ solicitations. All Supplier Registration profiles will be shared with all participating government entities. It is the sole responsibility of the prospective proposer to ensure registration with the NGEM Supplier System and subsequent receipt of RTAA solicitations.
I will also print a copy of the RFP if you are just curious to peruse it here at the terminal. Because this is a public solicitation now, I am very limited in what I can say or advise, so if you have bid-related questions or issues, I will have to refer you to our purchasing department. There are detailed instructions in the RFP document about this.
If you are interested in proposing something, or you know someone who might be, your first response to register for a mandatory pre-proposal meeting is due at 2:00pm, February 26, 2021. After that, respondents will have until 2:00pm, April 20, 2021 to upload their proposal. Again, this is outlined in the RFP and managed by the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Senior Buyer in the Purchasing Department, who you will want to connect with along with checking in to the Nevada Government eMarketplace.
One thing we continue to do is help individuals looking for hangar space at RTS. Check in with us if you need a hangar and we will let you know if anything is available and jot your info down for future.
