We have been in our new Terminal/EOC building for five months now! For those who have not had a chance to visit the new terminal, please stop by our offices on the second floor. With regards to the building, there has been one change that I would like to share. The curb on the air side of the building is now painted red. This means no parking along the curb – even if only for a few minutes. This area is designated for emergency parking only. Please park up against the fence.
We have a new tenant in our Terminal/EOC building administrative offices. Mr. Warren “Bum” Rapp. Mr. Rapp is employed by the Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems in Nevada. He will serve as the Northern NV Range Coordinator to plan, coordinate and implement the efforts to meet the FAA mandated integration of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) into the national airspace. Mr. Rapp will work with the Federal Aviation Administration, UAS companies and other Northern Nevada airports to develop testing procedures and flight safety protocols. Warren is a Reno native and graduate from Reno High School. He also was a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps and the Nevada Air National Guard from which he just retired. Please feel free to come by and welcome Warren!
With regards to the UAS test site, we are actively working with Mr. Rapp and numerous UAS companies to evaluate range needs for flight activities at Reno-Stead. Beginning this summer, we will hold a series of tenant meetings to present the operations and safety plans to our tenants. The plan will include proposed flight areas, including maximum altitudes, communication procedures, normal and emergency procedures, range controls for flight safety, and other relevant flight safety procedures. Stay tuned for more information.
Fire inspections can be scheduled immediately. We want to get these done in a timely manner and have all the hangars inspected by the end of July. They begin on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 and go through Thursday, July 31, 2014. Please contact Patti at 775/328-6570, as soon as possible, to schedule your inspection(s). A schedule of available dates for inspections is included with this notice. Patti has also scheduled ABC Fire to come out one day only – as an opportunity for you to get your fire extinguishers serviced on Wednesday, May 28th. ABC Fire will be parked air side of the Terminal Building and you may drop off your extinguisher(s) and $11 fee per extinguisher. As always, thank you for your cooperation.
The Collings Foundation will return to Reno-Stead Airport June 4-6. In addition to the B-17, B-24 and P-51 from last year, they hope to have a B-25 Mitchell join the flight. The aircraft will be located on the ramp east of the grandstands. Feel free to contact our office at 328-6570 for more information.
Please remember it is very important for you to update any changes in your tenant/sub-tenant mailing address, e-mail address, or hangar status. Also, it is important for you to have your insurance certificates sent to the Economic Development Department every time it renews. Please send all of your address and e-mail changes to pedgington Ctprenoairport.com and all of your current insurance certificates to shuggins@~renoairport.corn or fax them to 775/328-6564.
If you still have the old “dog tag” access key, please come to the main office to exchange it for a new card. There is a new system in place at each gate and for after-hours access into the new pilot lounge that requires you get a new Access Card.
