Reno-Stead Temporary Control Tower in Operation

A temp tower was activated today until July 27.  It is a portable tower on the center ramp near Taxiway A/A2 intersection.

The hours of operation: 9am – 9pm

They are just using the Local Control frequency 126.875

Contact “Stead Tower” before entering TWY A

Ground vehicles will contact “Stead Tower” prior to entering TWY A and adhere to all tower instructions.  Await tower clearance prior to crossing any runway and readback all instructions.

The reason for the tower is that we have high tempo tanker and heli-tanker operations in and out of RTS right now.

The dirt landing area, “RWY 7-25 Dirt” is closed during tower hours.

From 9pm – 9am, pilots will communicate on the RTS CTAF, 122.7

Here are the NOTAMs that are posted:

07/006 RTS SVC TEMPO TWR 126.875 2107132321-2107140400

07/005 RTS SVC TEMPO TWR 126.875 DLY 1600-0400 2107141600-2107280400

Please check NOTAMs for any operational changes.

All, please share this info with pilots here at RTS and at our sister airports/local flight schools so no one is surprised.
