Pylon Racing Seminar (PRS) Details for Tenants

The Reno Air Races will hold the annual Pylon Racing Seminar (PRS) here at RTS from Sunday, June 6 – Saturday, June 12, 2021.  Airport property gates and roads north of the runways will be closed to all public traffic from Sunday, June 6 – Sunday, June 13.

ARRIVALS

Jet and Sport race aircraft begin arriving at RTS on Wednesday, June 2.  From Thursday – Saturday,  these aircraft will be conducting formation practice flights away from the airport.  The airport will be under normal operations, but as these flights depart and return, traffic patterns will be busier than normal.

Other race classes arrive on Tuesday evening or Wednesday, June 9, when Jets and Sports conclude their PRS and begin to depart.

TFR

Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) will be in effect daily during this time.  Before and after the TFR each day, the airport will operate normally.  During the daily TFR, non-participating tenant aircraft will only be able to arrive/depart with a PPR during 2 15-minute or 3 10-minute windows each day.  This is the same thing we have done during past PRS events.  Read the attached letter for operating information in these windows.

RAMP SAFETY

The west ramp will be crowded with race aircraft.  Use extra caution driving around the airport hangar and ramp areas because of all the additional aircraft and people.

No-Prop/Jet Turn Line will be in effect west of the Grandstands during the days/hours of PRS Operations.  The double white and red line running west to east and then curving to the south, west of the Grandstands defines this line.  No engines/props can be turning south and west of that line.  If your aircraft is located at a tie-down/hangar south and west of that line, you must tow/push it to a position north of that line prior to engine start. However, it is permissible to taxi aircraft north and south in the taxi lane west of the grandstands and east of the No-Prop/Jet Turn Line (where it curves south).

For towing assist if you need it, give us a heads up 24 hours prior to your operation, by calling RARA contact Jimmy Cassidy @ (775) 671-1440 who can coordinate any required tow for you. If you cannot reach Jimmy, Airport Management also assist in arranging a tow for you; please contact Airport Management, Dani @ (775) 328-6570 or Mike @ (775) 328-6573.
