Pylon Racing School Update

TENTATIVE – FOR PLANNING – SUBJECT TO CHANGES

On June 9-10, 2018 Air Racing waivers and TFR’s will be in effect for annual Pylon Race training. As most of you know this closes Stead to everyone except race traffic and emergency operations. Because we have a very compressed schedule this year due to our construction and it covers only two days, there will not be any slots for non-participating aircraft to arrive or depart during waiver times. This means we are asking you to depart by 7:00 am and return after 6:00 pm.

Because of the constraints this year, Atlantic Aviation at RNO will accommodate Stead tenant aircraft at their facility from Friday, June 8 thru Monday June 11, 2018 at no cost for parking. If you wish to use this benefit, please contact Atlantic Aviation at (775) 858-7300 by  Thursday, June 7 and let them know you are a Stead tenant relocating during Air Race training. By taking advantage of this you can fly on your own schedule over the weekend of pylon training.

Tenants in the M-block whose hangars fall within the Unlimited/Jet courses will be restricted access.

For neighbors and non-flying tenants, the airport property and Lemmon Drive will be closed to all access beginning Friday, June 8 thru Monday morning, June 11.

There will be a NO PROP, NO ENGINE TURN line in effect for the west ramp. This will impact everyone regardless of whether you are participating in PRS.

Beginning Monday, June 4 – Thursday June 7, 2018, you should expect increase flight operations. Sport Class and Jet Class teams will be using RTS to launch for outlying areas to provide formation and flight lead practice. These flights will sequence in and out of local traffic, but will raise the operations density quite a bit as they come and go.

With respect to construction:

– The center ramp pad construction project should be completed and the space opened for aircraft parking or movements. We may still have some clean-up things to accomplish, but that will be after Pylon Race training.

-Runway 14/32 and TWY B, full length will be our only runway. TWY A2/C will be closed at RWY 8/26 because the runway will be demolished, however TWY C itself will be clear and clean for parking via TWY B.  The small loop at the east end of TWY A/RWY 8/26 will be paved and available for PRS aircraft staging, if needed.

It would be very helpful if you share this out to all Stead Users, including those at outlying airports. I will update info, provide necessary pictures, and post NOTAMs as we get closer to the activity.

Realize this activity can create some challenges for us all, but given how you all have risen to dealing with the construction, this will be like a walk in the park. Thanks for your understanding and patience. Watch for more info via Tenant Bulletin and NOTAM. Lots of information will be flowing out of here for the next couple weeks!
