Air Force C-130’s Flying at RTS & Amedee AAF
US Transportation Command out of Scott AFB, Illinois is planning a cargo exercise passing in/out of RTS between April 10-18, 2019.
Leadership and two load teams will be arriving on 9 April and staying at Stead to pass resources to Amedee AAF where most of the training will occur from the 12th to the 17th.
Sometime on 11 or 12 April, commercial trucks will be delivering equipment, cargo pallets, and Material Handling Equipment for staging near the grandstands.
2 x C-130’s, subject to final planning, should work thru Stead between 12-17 April, using the concrete parking pads to build and load cargo. There could be up to 4 day and 4 night flights per aircraft each day; arrivals and departures only…no traffic patterns at night.
The Navy Reserve facility will be used to lodge about 140 AF staff overnight 10-11 April prior to moving them up to Amedee.
By 18 April, everything will be gone.
The heavy aircraft parking pads will be busy near the grandstands with at least 2 x C-130’s packaging, loading, breaking cargo. If you are driving behind the grandstands back and forth please use caution because there will be troops and equipment in that area.
As always, please share this info with others who should know. Let me know if there are questions and I will update you if things change.
